The report of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into the presidential elections of 2009 states that finding out the truth regarding the public accusation on the involvement of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) in facilitating the electoral fraud could not be achieved because the activity of this forum was blocked by the refusal of the persons called at hearings to answer questions. "Finding out the truth about the public accusation on the involvement of SRI and DNA in facilitating the electoral fraud, due to the presence of these institutions' leaders in the house of Mr. Gabriel Oprea [former Deputy Prime Minister - ed.n.] on the evening of the elections could not be achieved because the work of the Inquiry parliamentary committee was blocked by: the refusal of the people being heard to answer all the committee's questions, arguing that 'there is an ongoing investigation', the refusal of the people who replied in writing that they cannot respond to the committee's requests, arguing that 'there is an investigation underway', reads the report regarding the "involvement of SRI and DNA in facilitating the electoral fraud".
The report also mentions the refusals of Laura-Codruta Kovesi, the DNA Chief Prosecutor, and Augustin Lazar, the Attorney General, to answer the requests.
