Romania recorded a negative natural growth rate in December 2017 against the previous month, in the context in which the number of persons who passed away exceeded the newly-born by 10,739, informs the National Institute of Statistics (INS) in a release to AGERPRES on Monday.
In December 2018 there were recorded 14,819 newly-born, by 174 less than in November, while the number of persons who passed away in the last month of the year was 25,558, by 3,806 less than in the previous month.
The number of children under the age of 1 who passed away in December 2018 was 88, down by 12 from November 2018.
On the other hand, in December 2018, the civil registration offices recorded 7,199 marriages, by 194 more than in November 2018. The number of divorces pronounced by final court judgments and according to Law no. 202/2010 was 2,723, by 164 more.
Compared with the same month in 2017, in December 2018 the number of newly-born was by 1,045 smaller and the number of deceased was by 2,776 higher than in December 2017. The natural growth rate was negative both in December 2018 (-10,739 persons) and in December 2017 (-6,918 persons).
The number of children under the age of 1 who died was by 12 smaller than in December 2018 than the one recorded in December 2017.
In what concerns the number of marriages, it increased in December 2018 compared with the same month of the previous year. There were by 232 divorces more in December 2018 than in December 2017.
