Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan arrived at the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) headquarters in Iasi on Friday morning, where he was summoned for questioning in the case involving Vaslui businessman Fanel Bogos, the administrator of a company in Vaslui county.
Bogos is accused of corruption offences for allegedly turning to people in influential circles, including at central government level, in order to have Mihai Ponea removed from his position as head of the Vaslui Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA Vaslui), agerpres reports.
In the same case, three other people were detained for influence peddling, bribery and blackmail, while two people were placed under judicial control for committing the offences of influence peddling and blackmail, namely complicity in influence peddling. Among them is former chairman of the Vaslui branch of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Mihai Barbu, who is accused of arranging meetings between the businessman and people in central government.
Former Deputy Secretary-General of the Government Cristina Traila is also being investigated for influence peddling.
