The Minister for European Investments and Projects, Dan Vilceanu, had a working meeting on Thursday with the European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, during which they discussed the measures to combat the negative effects of the Ukraine crisis, according to a release of the Ministry for European Investment and Projects (MIPE) sent to AGERPRES.

"The two officials discussed about the crisis generated by the war in Ukraine and the massive refugee flow from this country during the first four weeks since the start of the conflict. They discussed and analyzed the efficient organization and coordination on the part of the EU, together with Romanian authorities and other neighboring member-states and the measures adopted or had in view to diminish the negative effects of this crisis," the release mentions.

Another subject on the agenda of discussions regards the programming of the financial allotment of Romania in the European Social Fund. On this occasion, Minister Dan Vilceanu emphasized that approval of the Partnership Agreement and the 2021-2027 Operational programs is the main priority for Romanian authorities, in view of starting implementation of the new measures in complementarity with the reforms and investments of the National Resilience and Recovery Plan (PNRR).

At the same time, Dan Vilceanu thanked the European Commissioner for the progress recorded in negotiations with regard to the transfer of financial resources from the European Social Fund (ESF) to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), in order to support investments in social infrastructure at the national level. During the meeting appreciation was shown for the intense negotiations between the MIPE representatives and the European Commission representatives following which a transfer rate of 11% was established from the ESF to the ERDF, Agerpres.ro informs.

The two officials also discussed the reform of the Public Employment Service and the implementation of the Youth Guarantee.

"Minister Dan Vilceanu emphasized that investments for the Public Employment Service will be supported through the Education and Employment Operational Program. Investments will support this institution to respond proactively to the new challenges, depending on the real needs of the employers and the persons looking for a job and in order to become, together with other relevant actors, the focus point in view of implementing the Youth Guarantee," the release also mentions.
