The Romanian-Georgian pair Irina Bara/Ekaterine Gorgodze won the doubles title at the ITF tennis tournament in Szekesfehervar (Hungary), with a total prize pool of USD 60,000, after defeating the Hungarian sisters Panna and Luca Udvardy in the final with a score of 6-7 (7/9), 6-3, 10-3, Agerpres reports.
Bara and Gorgodze secured the victory after 1 hour and 51 minutes.
The Romanian-Georgian duo started the match well, leading 3-0, but the Hungarian sisters came back and managed to win the first set in a tiebreak. Bara and Gorgodze dominated the second set and the super tiebreak, claiming the trophy.
This is not the first doubles title for Bara and Gorgodze, as they also won a WTA 250 title at the Transylvania Open in 2021. Bara had previously won the doubles title at Szekesfehervar in 2018, alongside Belgian player Maryna Zanevska.
