Romanian-German pair Jaqueline Cristian/Andrea Petkovic has qualified for the second round of the women's doubles event of the Australian Open tennis tournament, the first Grand Slam of the year, after defeating the Romanian couple Simona Halep/Gabriela Ruse, 6-4, 6-0, on Friday, in Melbourne.
Cristian and Petkovic won after 69 minutes of playing.
In another match, in the second round of the competition, Raluca Olaru and German Anna-Lena Friedsam lost to the Chinese pair Yifan Xu/ Zhaoxuan Yang, 14th seeded, 6-2, 6-3, in 62 minutes.
Halep and Ruse won 30,050 Australian dollars and 10 WTA points in doubles, while Jaqueline Cristian/Andrea Petkovic and Raluca Olaru/Anna-Lena Friedsam won 45,100 dollars and 130 WTA points in doubles.
