Justice, Home Affairs ministers come to Bucharest to attend JHA informal reunion

The Justice and Home Affairs ministers with the EU member states will attend 6 to 8 February 2019, in Bucharest at the Palace of Parliament an informal reunion in context of the exercising by Romania of the presidency of the EU Council, the files on terrorism, migration and asylum, along with the Schengen, ways of developing the judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters being among the main files to be addressed, a press release informs.

The event will be chaired by the Romanian Home Affairs Minister Carmen Dan, for the home affairs section, and by the Romanian Justice Minister Tudorel Toader for the Justice section.

The reunion will be attended by the Justice and Home Affairs ministers with the EU member states, Dimitris Avramopoulos, European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Julian King, European Commissioner for the Security Union, Vera Jourova, European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, Gilles de Kerchove, EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, Claude Moraes, chair of the EP's LIBE Committee, Pavel Svoboda, chair of the EP's JURI Committee on Legal Affairs, Ladislav Hamran, president of Eurojust, Catherine De Bolle, executive director of Europol, Fabrice Leggeri, Frontex director, Michael O'Flaherty, director of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), Tiina Astola, director-general for Justice and Consumers with the European Commission, Christine Roger, director-general for Justice and Home Affairs with the General Secretariat of the EU Council, along other officials with European agencies.

The event will debut on the evening of 6 February with a welcome cocktail for the members of the delegations of the Internal Affairs component.

On 7 February, the Home Affairs ministers with the EU member states will gather at the Parliament Palace to address topics in connection with the prevention and fight against terrorism, the police cooperation, the Schengen Space, migration and asylum.

At end-sitting dedicated to the Home Affairs, on Thursday around 17:15 a press conference is scheduled.

On Friday 8 February, the Justice ministers from the EU member states will tackle at the Parliament Palace the development of judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters, the gathering of the electronic evidence in criminal matters and the future of the judicial cooperation in the European Union.

The sitting dedicated to Justice will end in a press conference, due to begin at rd 15:30.
