Two F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, the latest to join the European F-16 Training Center, landed on Wednesday at the 86th Air Base "Lieutenant Aviator Gheorghe Mociornita" in Fetesti, announces the Ministry of National Defence (MApN), inform agerpres.ro.

The aircraft will join the 16 already in Romania to strengthen the training capacity of the Center, which currently has a total of 18 aircraft of this type.

The first five aircraft arrived in Romania in November last year, followed by the delivery of another 11 aircraft.

"With today's reception of the two aircraft, the training squadron is now complete, thus fulfilling the commitments assumed by the partners," the source said.

By setting up the European F-16 Training Center, Romania is committed to providing a high quality training environment, with access to state-of-the-art technical resources and know-how not only for Romanian pilots, but also for those from allied and partner states, including Ukraine. The first series of Romanian pilots completed the training program in July this year, and four Ukrainian pilots are currently training at the Center, MApN shows.

The F-16 Center contributes to creating common operational standards and strengthening the North Atlantic Alliance's capacity to meet the complex challenges in the Black Sea region and Eastern Europe.
