The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs Romanian citizens planning to travel to Bulgaria or transit the state toward Greece or Turkey that ferry transport at the Oryahovo-Bechet Danube crossing point is temporarily suspended due to strong winds and decreasing water levels of the river.

According to a MAE release sent to AGERPRES on Friday, in this context, it is recommended that alternative border crossing points opened to international traffic at the Romania-Bulgaria border be used, such as: Vidin-Calafat, Kardam-Negru Voda, Durankulak-Vama Veche, Silistra-Ostrov Calarasi, Dobromir-Krushari, Kaynardzha-Lipnita, Nikopol-Turnu Magurele (ferry) (www.feribot-eurobac.ro), Svishtov-Zimnicea (ferry) (www.ferry.bg), Aydemir (Silistra)-Chiciu (Calarasi) (ferry) (www.spikaferry.com) and Ruse-Giurgiu.

Romanian citizens who are traveling on the Danube Bridge at Ruse are advised to anticipate significantly longer waiting times, as Bulgarian authorities are carrying out major repair works on the viaduct on the Bulgarian side.

Romanian citizens can request consular assistance by calling the Embassy of Romania in Sofia at +35929712858 or +35929733510, with calls being redirected to the Contact and Support Center for Romanian Citizens Abroad (CCSCRS) and handled by Call Center operators on a 24/7 basis. Moreover, in cases of emergency or special, urgent situations, Romanian citizens can also contact the diplomatic mission's emergency number in Bulgaria: +359879440758.
