"I want to say that this draft law is here and it's supplemented, it's complete, it has been discussed with partners of the civil society, with social actors, with the political formations and this draft law will be lodged next week by parliamentary colleagues. In particular, we have here some deputies who are involved, I would mention Mr Deputy Florin Manole, but there are other MPs from the entire political spectrum who will push this bill forward. Not to create a new disagreement, but to create new solutions," Negrescu stated at the "I.L. Caragiale" National Theater, within an event through which the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) marked the completion of the "Citizenship consultations for the future of the European Union" series.
He made these clarifications in the context of the referendum on defining the family, organised at the weekend, about which he said "has no winners and no losers."
"Indeed, last days (...) a referendum was organised that has no winners and no losers. It has only one message, in the end, we should find those drafts, those solutions that can push us forward, regardless of each one's option. There are some of these solutions that can be pushed forward and can be promoted at the highest level. In this regard, I noticed in various public interventions, yesterday or today, the fact that many social and political actors underscore the idea of finding a new legal framework to regulate what means the daily life of unmarried couples, underscoring in this regard the idea of civil partnership," Negrescu stated.
He underscored that the persons who voted at the referendum on family "need their opinions voiced, too."
"Yesterday also, if I were to refer to what happened at the weekend, there were persons who went, voted, had their options. And those persons need their options expressed. And probably, they expressed a series of fears regarding globalisation, regarding the developments in the European Union and at global level. Those persons also need a response in order to get over their fears and identify those solutions that can offer them the certainty that the future will be a better one, according to, why not, their vision about Romania, about the European Union," the Minister-delegate for European Affairs stated.
