The allocation for promoting Romania's tourism has been doubled in the budget of the Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT), Minister Ambrozie-Irineu Darau said on Monday evening at the meeting of the specialised parliamentary committees for approving the ministry's budget.

'In tourism, I insisted on the need for more promotion. We have managed to double the budget allocation, from 2.2 million to 4.5 million euros, and with commitment appropriations we even exceed 20 million euros. (...) In the second half of the year, we will also be able to request additional funds during the budget revision,' Darau said, adding that one of the objectives for 2026 is the relaunch of spa tourism.

The budget of the Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism for 2026, amounting to 5.505 billion lei in commitment appropriations and 5.019 billion lei in budgetary appropriations, was approved on Monday evening by the specialised committees of Parliament, with 49 votes in favour and 21 against.
