Border police officers from Lunga and Jimbolia localities, Timis County, detected, with the help of aerial surveillance technology, 41 foreign citizens, who legally entered and stayed in Romania, while attempting to cross the border illegally into Serbia, informs the General Inspectorate of the Border Police (IGPF).

The persons in question were taken to the headquarters of the Lunga Border Police Sector for investigations. It is about 41 men from Nepal and Pakistan who legally entered the territory of Romania, the IGPF states on Saturday, in a press statement sent to AGERPRES.

In this case, the border police are conducting investigations into attempted fraudulent crossing of the state border, upon completion of which the necessary legal measures will be taken.

All the 41 migrants stated that they tried to illegally cross the border from Romania to Serbia, with the intention of reaching various states in Western Europe, according to the IGPF.

The border police used technical means of surveillance - thermal imaging, fixed observation equipment, drones and a plane that participated in the Frontex JO Terra 2023 operation, as well as in close cooperation with the Serbian border authorities and the Frontex Agency.
