Natural gases by over 50% more expensive in past year

Natural gas, edible oil and potatoes were the items with the highest price increases in the past year, while air transport services were the only item to record price decreases, according to the data of the National Institute for Statistics (INS) published Friday, Agerpres reports.

In the December 2020 - December 2021 interval, prices for natural gas rose by 51.57%, for edible oil by 27.17%, and for potatoes by 24.89%.

In what regards foods, the past year saw the highest increases for edible oil - 27.17%, potatoes - 24.89%, and cornmeal - 14.90%, with no price decreases recorded.

In the non-food goods category, in the past year, after natural gas - 51.57%, the highest increase was recorded for fuels - 22.45%, with no price decreases recorded.

In the case of services, the highest increases were noted in postal services (+22.50%) and water, sewerage, and sanitation (8.05%). Air transport services saw price decreases of -6.38%.

The annual inflation rate rose to 8.19% in December 2021, from 7.8% in November, given that non-food goods saw increases by 10.73%, food items by 6.69%, and services by 4.49%, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute for Statistics (INS).
