The Ministry of Education and Research is "carefully" monitoring cases of inappropriate behaviour in schools and, where necessary, additional measures will be introduced, quickly, including based on feedback from those in the field of education, Minister Daniel David said on Friday.
"The ministry has created the legal context to prevent and, as far as possible, eliminate any form of violence or dysfunctional behaviour in schools - recent corrective tools are the red button' and the admission of anonymous complaints - and I encourage you to implement this framework in each school, so that each player in education feels protected and comes with confidence and pleasure in the educational environment. We carefully monitor such phenomena, and where we need to add new measures, we will do it quickly, including based on the feedback received from the people in education," David is quoted as saying in a press statement released by the Ministry of Education.
David added that, although in general, the relations between the players in education - students, teachers and parents - are good, he too often observes dysfunctional behaviours between these actors in the public space.
"Modern education, whose role is to form relevant competences, is co-created in complex educational ecosystems, where we have the student-teacher-parent triad at the base: it functions in a more general framework, which includes the (local/national) authorities and the socio-economic environment. But 'co-creation' does not mean that we have the same role, but that complementary roles must interact effectively to the benefit of children and the education system. Although, in general, relations among these players are good, I too often observe dysfunctional behaviours between these actors in the public space. I know that the social pressure (conflicts/polarisation/inappropriate public expressions and manifestations/extremist attitudes) is high, and that also influences the school, but we must be a model for society, and not the other way around!"
