New US Ambassador to Bucharest Darryl Nirenberg will present his letters of credence on Tuesday.
According to the schedule announced by the Presidential Administration, at 14:00, the US Ambassador-designate, Darryl Nirenberg, will be welcomed at the Cotroceni Palace by President Nicusor Dan, thus formally beginning his mandate in Bucharest, agerpres reports.
Darryl Nirenberg was confirmed as the US Ambassador to Bucharest at the end of last year.
On 19 November, during his hearing before the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Darryl Nirenberg stated that the relationship with Romania has never been more important.
He mentioned that Romania is a key ally within NATO, strategically located on the Black Sea and bordering Ukraine, providing significant opportunities for US companies and having the potential to be a decisive factor in terms of energy resources. The US official added that US relationship with Romania has never been more important.
The head of state will also welcome on Tuesday at the Cotroceni Palace, other ambassadors for the presentation of letters of credence, namely the ambassador-designate of the Republic of Ecuador, Cynthia Marie Mayer Zavala, the ambassador-designate of the Principality of Andorra, Carles Jordana Madero, the ambassador-designate of New Zealand, Jennifer Jean Troup, the ambassador-designate of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Paul Schmit, the ambassador-designate of the Republic of Costa Rica, Eliana Villalobos Cardenas, the ambassador-designate of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Khadija Ossoble Ali, the ambassador-designate of the Republic of Latvia, Raimonds Jansons, the ambassador-designate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Samantha Priyadarshana Weerasinghe Pathirana and the ambassador-designate of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Mitu.
