President Nicusor Dan met, on Monday, at the Cotroceni Palace, with Enrico Letta, former Prime Minister of Italy and author of the report "Much More than a Market", dedicated to the future of the European Single Market, on which occasion they discussed development opportunities, especially in the financial, telecom and energy sectors.
''We had a substantial discussion about the application of the report's recommendations in Romania and how we can strategically align ourselves with the development of the Single Market. Our country is still in the process of convergence, with regional gaps and challenges in infrastructure, governance and administrative capacity, essential aspects that affect the business environment and investments. "I also discussed with Mr. Letta the development opportunities, especially in the financial, telecom and energy sectors, but we also discussed the future of European industry," the head of state wrote in a Facebook post.
According to him, a central objective is for Romania to actively participate in European economic consolidation and, at the same time, to develop its own competitive companies, agerpres reports.
"I discussed with Mr. Letta the need to have more European champions that can face competition from the USA and China, so that we can ensure that in Europe and in Romania we will continue to have the best-paid jobs in the industries of the future," President Nicusor Dan also said.
In April 2024, Enrico Letta presented the "Much More than a Market" report, which he prepared at the request of the EU Council.
