President Nicusor Dan ruled out, on Monday evening, the scenario of any party leaving the government in the near future.
Asked whether he would propose a prime minister supported by AUR and another party, in case the current coalition fails, the president categorically ruled out this hypothesis.
"This scenario does not exist. I tell you this with all responsibility. All four parties plus the minority group understand the context we are living. Of course they have different opinions on many subjects, but they understand the context and they understand the responsibility they have to provide a government that is credible abroad," the head of state told Antena 1 TV station.
As to the possibility of a party leaving the ruling coalition, which would continue to support the Government in Parliament, the president replied that this is a theoretical scenario, but which would not be valid for the near future.
"Theoretically, this scenario exists, but not in the immediate future," he said.
Nicusor Dan emphasized that all parties in the coalition are responsible. At the same time, he noted that the respective formations assumed the government at a time when it would be more comfortable to be in opposition.
"If I were a populist, seeing the trust that parties and politicians, in general, have among the population, I would try to detach myself from them. It is remarkable that all four parties and the minorities have chosen to form a governing coalition at a time that is not pleasant. To cut, to affect people... No party wants to do it. It is more comfortable in opposition. But they chose to do it and I have to welcome this issue. They are responsible parties. Of course, parties are made by people. These people have been arguing for years. Some do not understand that we have populist forces in Parliament, with a 40% voting intention, and that they must collaborate more than... These are elements of context. What matters is that they end up making decisions together and that they govern", the president specified.
