A Romanian national has died in a road accident in Belgium, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) in response to a request from AGERPRES.
"The Embassy of Romania in Brussels is following the aftermath of a road accident that occurred on October 16 in the Munos area of Belgium, where a car registered in Romania was implicated," reads the answer.
Immediately after reporting the case, the source said, the diplomatic mission has been taking steps with the local authorities for further information. According to preliminary information, a Romanian national died and two others were injured, and the representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Belgium are in contact with the deceased's family.
"The Romanian Embassy in Brussels is monitoring the situation with priority, while keeping in contact with local authorities, and providing consular assistance to both injured Romanian citizens and the deceased's family, including by issuing the necessary documents for the return of the dead body and the death certificate."
A Romanian died on Tuesday in a road accident in the Belgian town of Bertrix and two other Romanians were injured, the lavenir.net website reports.
The driver of the vehicle registered in Romania lost control of the steering wheel at a bend and struck a tree, after which the vehicle fell into a creek.
All three car occupants are Romanian. One of them, who was in the back seat, died, and the other two were injured and were taken to the Libramont hospital.
