The University of Oradea will host on Friday the event How Does Art Influence Our Emotional States and Inner Balance?, featuring an interdisciplinary exhibition and a themed conference exploring the connection between art and mental wellbeing, according to a university release.
Part of the EU GREEN academic alliance initiative Together for Mental Health: 9 Themes, 9 Universities, 9 Reasons for Action, the event will take place at the University Library and bring together lecturers from various disciplines. The programme includes an art exhibition, architectural displays and a flute recital performed by Associate Professor Ariadna Mircescu, PhD., and her students.
According to Mircescu, music acts as 'the most direct emotional language of humanity,' capable of calming or stimulating the nervous system depending on rhythm and tone. She described the musical selection as moving from reflective Romanian pieces to more playful works that express joy and vitality.
Associate Professor Teofil Stiop, PhD., said that colour, light and form can release emotions and support healing through art therapy, while architect Ioana Francesca Hanga-Farcas explained that spatial design strongly affects psychological wellbeing, both of them highlighting how visual arts and architecture influence human emotions.
The initiative is the third in a series of events by the EU GREEN alliance, a consortium of nine European universities promoting sustainability, responsible development and mental health awareness. Funded with 14 million euro by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), the alliance supports collaborative education and research projects aimed at building 'universities of the future.
