Over 50,000 tourists are expected on May 1 on the Romanian seaside, the date on which the summer season at the seaside begins, said Corina Martin, president of the Resto Constanta Employers' Association and secretary general of the Federation of Hospitality Employers' Associations in Romania (FPIOR).
"We expect over 50,000 tourists in the seaside resorts this May 1 weekend, and the most sought-after resorts are, as every year, Mamaia, Mamaia Nord, Vama Veche, but also Eforie. Average accommodation rates are between 300 - 400 lei/night/, with breakfast, in 4-star hotels, and between 250 - 350 lei/night in holiday apartments. The first tourists of the season choose the May 1 mini-vacation at the seaside in Romania for the dynamic events that we, the tourists, welcome, especially in Mamaia and Vama Veche, including Sunwaves, Festival du Bonheur, many concerts and events in clubs and restaurants. The Sunwaves festival always brings us the first foreign tourists of the season and continues to place us on the dynamic map of electronic music events in world, and Festival du Bonheur returns with the taste of gastronomy and good music for those who party by the sea", Martin said in a press release sent on Monday to AGERPRES.
The press conference to open the summer season took place on Monday, having been organized by the Resto Constanta Employers' Association, the Tourist Eforia Employers' Association, representatives of the National Authority of Travel Agencies (ANAT), the Destination Management Organization (OMD) Mamaia Nord, the OMD County Constanta and the organizers of the main events that will take place this weekend at the seaside.
