More than 58 tons of various waste - clothes, second-hand shoes, paper, cardboard, wood and plastic - were stopped from being introduced into the country through the border points Bors II, Bors I and Nadlac II, in the last 24 hours, the Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police (ITPF) Oradea informed in a statement on Friday.
According to the source, the border police officers from the Border Crossing Point Bors II, Bors I and Nadlac II carried out, on the direction of entry into the country, the specific control over four trucks driven by four Romanian citizens. According to the documents accompanying the goods, they were transporting clothes, second-hand shoes, paper, cardboard, wood and plastic from different commercial companies in Germany and Italy for companies in Romania.
As there were suspicions about the legality of the transports in question, the border police requested authorized support from representatives of the Bihor and Arad County Commissariat with the National Environmental Guard and representatives of the Bihor and Arad County Commissariat for Consumer Protection.
Also, more than 22 tons of waste brought from Italy were blocked, on Friday, upon entering the country through the Nadlac II Border Crossing Point, after the authorities found that the transport was illegal.
According to a press release from the Arad Environmental Guard, a TIR loaded with 22.66 tons of plastic and rubber waste was destined for an economic agent from Timis county.
"He was denied entry into the country by commissioners of the Arad National Environmental Guard and agents of the Border Police, considering the fact that the transported waste was mixed waste, a fact that contravenes the legislation in force," the institution said.
The authorities ordered that the waste be returned to the senders.AGERPRES
