Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu Oprea, stated on Wednesday evening in southern Ploiesti that the organizers of the Paris Tourism Fair changed the rule during the game and asked for advance payment, so Romania could not participate in this event.

He added that Romania cannot pay in advance because the our legislation does not allow it, agerpres reports.

"Yet, Romania was present at fairs in Paris, at two fairs - at a very large fair in January and at the specialized balneo fair, for treatment. We had a very strong outdoor campaign on the streets of Paris, on billboards and also on tourist buses with a very good viewing target, because during this period the Rugby World Cup took place, in these conditions there were many tourists there. So Romania was present in Paris and will be next year as well," the minister added.

He also pointed out that there were years when Romania was not present at this fair.

On the other hand, the representatives of the Incoming Romania Association, which brings together over 40 tourism companies specialized in receiving foreign tourists in our country, say that Romania misses another chance to promote at the Paris tourism fair, although it has the lowest number of foreign tourists in the European Union, after missing the participation in the largest tourism fair in the world in spring.

"We believe that we have wasted another great opportunity to be more active on the French market and to find ourselves in more tourism catalogs," said the members of the said association.

The Incoming Romania Association brings together over 40 Romanian tourism companies specialized in receiving foreign tourists in Romania, with the mission to promote the destination Romania and to sustainably develop incoming tourism - an engine of national and local economic development.
