The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) announced, on Saturday morning, that since the beginning of the electoral campaign, 124 possible electoral incidents have been reported, 13.3% less than the campaign for the previous parliamentary elections and 34.4% less than the campaign for the first round of the presidential elections.
Out of the total of 124 reported incidents, 12 are being verified and 14 have not been confirmed, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the quoted source, 18 were not within the competence of the MAI, so 17 were sent for competent resolution to the Permanent Electoral Authority and one to the Central Electoral Bureau.
The MAI officers imposed 11 fines in the amount of over 21,000 RON and 44 warnings and drew up 3 criminal files regarding possible crimes.
The most frequent complaints referred to the electoral display, namely the destruction, damage, dirtiness, covering by writing or in any other way of the displayed program platforms or any other printed electoral propaganda posters or announcements - approximately 37%, the display of propaganda means election in places other than those allowed according to the legal provisions - 16%, non-compliance with the legal provisions regarding the types of election materials electoral propaganda that can be used in the electoral campaign - approximately 10%.
During the electoral campaign, the MAI forces ensured the safe conduct of 93 electoral demonstrations, their number being approximately 61% lower compared to the 2020 parliamentary elections. All electoral demonstrations took place without special events.
Most demonstrations were organized in the counties of Arges (11), Ialomita (9) and Giurgiu (8) and took place, mainly, in the form of meetings with voters.
MAI reminds that on Saturday morning, at 7:00, the electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections, which started on November 1, officially ended. Continuation of electoral propaganda, including on social networks, can be sanctioned with a fine between 4,500 and 10,000 RON.
According to the decision of the Central Electoral Bureau, the continuation of electoral propaganda means: displaying, launching or distributing electoral materials of any type that refer to the parliamentary elections; the broadcasting of electoral messages that refer to the parliamentary elections in audio, visual or mixed format on digital screens placed in public or private places or by means of specially designed vehicles; advising voters to vote or not to vote for certain candidates.
Also, until the end of the voting, the organizers of events of any kind and their participants cannot carry out electoral propaganda actions.
Maintaining electoral content related to the parliamentary elections, which was published during the electoral campaign on websites and online social media platforms and which is not the subject of active promotion, paid for the display of said content after the end of the electoral campaign, does not constitute action continuation of the electoral propaganda, MAI added.
