Pedro Sanchez: Spain is Romania's traditional ally in Schengen case

Spain is Romania's traditional ally in the Schengen case, the Prime Minister of the government of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, said on Wednesday.

"There are no technical reasons, on the contrary, the [European - ed.n.] Commission confirmed the fact that Romania has made the necessary efforts to fulfill the technical requirements. Consequently, the Government of Spain is in favor of Romania's accession to the Schengen Area," the head of the Spanish Executive told a joint press conference alongside Romanian counterpart, Nicolae Ciuca.

The governments of Romania and Spain met on Wednesday in Castellón de la Plana, in a first joint meeting.AGERPRES
