Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, leader of the PSD (Social Democratic Party), on Saturday stated that the Executive is credible and the governing coalition is functioning, adding, however, that the leaders of the two parties no longer see each other and that the PSD observes "this decision of the consultants from PNL (National Liberal Party)", Agerpres reports.

"We have a functional Government. I respect my colleagues, both from the Social Democratic Party and from the National Liberal Party. I have nothing to reproach my colleagues from the Government of Romania. They, all my colleagues, are members of the Government of Romania. But we are now in an electoral campaign and it's normal [that we are more discreet - editor's note]. But the political coalition is something else. But you should know that we do communicate. We do not meet anymore, because, you now, there are the consultants who run our campaigns, and some of them say that it's not good for us to meet, because we create a certain emotion in the public space. I don't believe in that. In my opinion, the more we hide, the more Romanians laugh at us," said Ciolacu, when asked about the problems in the governing coalition.

Marcel Ciolacu added that he is interested in the functioning of the Government of Romania.

"But the Government of Romania works and is credible. I, in the position of prime minister, still have several invitations abroad. I suppose that, if there had been a problem of the credibility related to the prime minister or the Government of Romania, I wouldn't have received these invitations", said the prime minister.

According to Ciolacu, the governing coalition is working. "It works, I told you. It's discreet, not secret. (...) My colleagues had meetings with colleagues from the National Liberal Party. The leaders are no longer seen, this is true. And I respect this decision of the consultants to the PNL", added Ciolacu.
