Prime Minister and Social Democratic Party (PSD) Chairman Marcel Ciolacu declared on Friday that he will make the nomination for Romania's European Commissioner after discussing with President Iohannis.
"This is the right way to proceed, because the negotiator within the European Council is the president of Romania and it's normal for me to have this institutional dialogue. It's true, I am the one to make the nomination. The pick will very much depend on their duties (...) and responsibilities as a future commissioner. Therefore, I will definitely have a discussion with the already elected lady president of the European Council. This will happen quite soon," said the PSD leader.
About the situation in the coalition, Ciolacu said that "he doesn't see anything spectacular."
"We are in an electoral year, I haven't seen any red line crossed. Now, we cannot all have the same opinions. At least I don't share theirs," said Ciolacu.
