The constructions field will be declared a "priority field and of national importance" for the Romanian economy, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced on Thursday, also specifying that, in this sector, "the gross minimum monthly salary will be established at 3,000 lei."

In the beginning of the solemn Government meeting in Alba Iulia, the Prime Minister announced the approval through memorandum of "two new agreements in priority fields for Romania - constructions and education," which will be signed with the trade unions and employers' associations immediately after the sitting.

"The agreement in the constructions field: we will declare this field as a priority and of a national importance for the Romanian economy for the next 10 years. For the constructions sector, we will establish a gross minimum monthly salary of 3,000 lei, we will eliminate the taxes on labour for employers and for the employees we will establish a gross minimum monthly salary to be the equivalent of 500 euros," explained Dancila.

According to the head of the Executive, there will also be introduced additional measures for combating illegal labour in this sector.

In supporting financing of this sector there will be established "a guarantee fund for constructions with the participation of the state by a percentage of 80 per cent and construction companies by 20 per cent," informed the Prime Minister.
