Romania's Prime Minister Viorica Dancila will be paying an official visit to Prague, the Czech Republic, on Friday at the invitation of her Czech counterpart.
"The visit responds to the need to redress the Romanian-Czech political dialogue, especially at a high level, to intensify the efforts of the parties to coordinate their own positions on relevant topics and to expand and deepen co-operation between Romania and the Czech Republic with the aim of generating added value in the bilateral relationships and a more effective promotion of common interests, especially within the EU. The Czech Republic is a traditional partner of Romania's in Central and Eastern Europe. The special nature of the Romanian-Czech relationships is built on historical and consolidated landmarks, currently both nations' NATO and EU membership," according to a press statement released on Thursday by the Romanian Government.
The schedule of the visit includes meetings with high-ranking Czech officials - Prime Minister Andrej Babis, Chamber of Deputies Speaker Radek Vondracek and Senate Chairman Jaroslav Kubera.
"Discussions will focus on intensifying political interaction, further fighting economic links and imparting a new dynamic to the Romanian-Czech sectoral projects. They will also focus on ways the two countries react to the main files under negotiations by the European Union, as well as on ways in which the Czech Republic supports the key objectives, priorities and approaches of the Romanian presidency of the EU Council."
