Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca had, on Thursday, meetings with the representatives of owners' associations and trade unions in the food industry on the topic of food security and government solutions to support this sector in overcoming the effects generated on the market by the Russian aggression in Ukraine, the energy crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a release of the Government, the discussions focused on measures to support the economy, which will benefit the food sector, but also on dedicated measures to support the food industry.
"We wanted to have this discussion both to consult on measures to support the industry, as well as to ensure that the necessary stocks of food products for the population exists. At the level of the Government we have prepared all that is necessary so that the stocks from state reserves can support an increased demand of the market," said the Prime Minister, Agerpres.ro informs.
In this sense, the Prime Minister mentioned that starting with April 1 two important measures responding to the requests of the business environment are to enter into force.
"Optionally, the companies have the possibility, in the April 1, 2022 - June 30, 2022 period, to send the bills issued in the national system regarding electronic bills RO e-Factura, regardless if the senders are registered or not in the RO e-Factura registry, which will ensure the traceability of bills and will contribute to combat tax evasion. Starting with July 1, 2022, this mechanism will become mandatory. Also starting tomorrow, the project 'Freight radar' will be applied, by which the traceability of merchandise, regardless of nature may be checked," shows the release.
In what regards support measures dedicated to the food industry, the Prime Minister announced that at the level of Government a mechanism for support is in an advanced stage of elaboration, with the mechanism to offer companies and SMEs state aid schemes or de minimis aid for retooling.
The consultations between the Government and representatives of owners' associations and trade unions in agriculture will continue in the coming period at the level of a working group established at the Ministry of Agriculture.
