Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan discussed on Saturday, in Chisinau, with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, about expanding cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, energy and cross-border development projects.

"Among the priorities are the expansion of energy interconnections, the modernization of transport networks and joint investments that will bring direct benefits to citizens on both banks of the Prut," a statement issued by the Government states, agerpres reports.

The two also discussed the European path of the Republic of Moldova and "countering foreign interference that destabilizes" this process.

"The Prime Minister emphasized that President Maia Sandu's determination and Romania's constant support provide stability and trust to citizens. Romania will continue to be a strong supporter of Chisinau in the process of accession to the European Union, supporting both internal reforms and projects that strengthen regional security and bring the Republic of Moldova closer to European standards," the Bucharest Executive emphasizes.

The Romanian Government reaffirms its commitment to work with the authorities in Chisinau to transform the strategic partnership "into an engine of development and European integration," the quoted source pointed out.
