The Romanian Police ordered checks into the security of the Bucharest above-ground and Metro traffic light systems following the recent tampering with the traffic management program in a Bucharest quarter, authorized sources said according to Agerpres
The Capital Police is looking at the way the Local Police of the Bucharest Municipality ensures the security of the above-ground traffic light system, while the Transport Police performs controls at the Metro signaling system.
On December 31, the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism took action in the recent case of the illegal access of the traffic light cabinets, opening an in rem criminal case for the offenses of unauthorized access to a computer system and altering the integrity of computer data.
On December 29 the Bucharest City Hall filed a complaint regarding the unauthorized accessing of the traffic light cabinets at the pedestrian crossing in front of the Titan Polyclinic, with the change of the authorized red- and green-light times. The City Hall said that had the response teams not promptly remedied the situation, the consequences could have been extremely grave.
