Romanian citizens, including those living abroad, have a right to modern, digitalised, quality public services, and this year is crucial for the completion of the ecosystem of electronic identity cards and digital wallets, President Nicusor Dan said on Sunday.
He added that he discussed in Brussels the other day with Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorgiu the digitalisation of the Romanian state and the reform of state-owned companies.
"The other day in Brussels, I had a discussion with Oana Gheorghiu, deputy prime minister, about the digitalisation of the Romanian state and the reform of state-owned companies. We agreed that this year is crucial for the completion of the e-ID card ecosystem and digital wallets. Romanian citizens, including those living abroad, have a right to modern, digitalised, quality public services," Dan wrote in a social media post.
According to Dan, they must be able to identify themselves and sign documents remotely, and most public services should be simple and accessible, with no visits to the counter.
"Another topic discussed was the reform of state-owned companies, which is indispensable and can no longer be postponed. A strong state needs strong companies," the President said.
