In a message on June 5, Teacher's Day, President Nicusor Dan thanks teachers for their permanent involvement in shaping generations, saying that their effort is essential for education in Romania.
"To our children, teachers are their first link with the joy of knowing and understanding reality. There are those who, with a lot of love, turn childhood games into ways of discovering the world. We thank them today, on Teacher's Day, for their permanent involvement in shaping generations after generations. Their effort is essential for education in Romania, being the ones who, by paying attention to specific needs and with appropriate teaching methods, can support each child to continue school without dropping out and reach their full potential," says the head of state in a social media post on Thursday.
Dan says that education lays the foundations for tomorrow's society.
"Education lays the foundations for tomorrow's society. And in this process, the teacher has a complex role, which means not only competence, but also balance, patience and vision. In order for this mission to be successfully accomplished, the state has the obligation to secure all the necessary conditions: adequate resources, stability and predictability. We cannot ask for performance without offering the due respect and concrete support that this noble vocation deserves. Thank you to all those who make education an act of responsibility, not just a profession!"
