President Iohannis: By becoming a 3SI-associate country, Ukraine gets closer to EU, better prepares for reconstruction

President Iohannis on Wednesday stated that, by becoming a Three Sea Initiative associated state, Ukraine will be able to get more involved in all the instruments of the 3SI, and also to access investments for strategic interconnection projects.

"President Zelenski's participation in this Summit is very important, because today Ukraine becomes an associated country of the Three Seas Initiative, which will allow it to get involved in all the instruments of the Initiative, and also to access investments for strategic interconnection projects. Ukraine will also get closer to the EU and will be able to prepare better for its reconstruction and recovery," said the head of the Romanian state, in the opening of the 3SI Summit.

The Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenski, held a speech in the beginning of the Summit through videoconference.

President Iohannis on Wednesday hosts the 8th edition of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit at the Cotroceni Palace.

Greece will join the Initiative this year, while Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova will become associated states.
