President Klaus Iohannis said that he is following with great attention the case of the Bodnariu family and underscored that he also backs the Government's efforts to make sure human rights are being observed for Romanian citizens.
Premier Dacian Ciolos requested on Tuesday to be "promptly" updated on developments in the Bodnariu case, and the Romanian side welcomed the Norwegian authorities' accepting a meeting on this subject with the Romanian Ambassador in Oslo; the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.
"Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos this morning had a discussion with Romania's Ambassador in Oslo. Also, the Chancellery contacted Norway's Ambassador in Bucharest to get as much as as possible information about the situation of the Bodnarius. These contacts highlight the special interest whereby the Romanian Prime Minister is looking at the case. The Prime Minister expressed his particular interest in the development and clarification of the Bodnariu case, in the context of the excellent relations connecting Romania and Norway at all levels. This interest will be emphasized at all levels of this relationship. The Prime Minister and the Government's concern is justified by the fact that this is about Romanian citizens, family members who are now turning to the Romanian Embassy, increasingly stronger demanding the involvement of the Romanian authorities," Government spokesman Dan Suciu announced at the Victoria Palace.
