The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) carried out on Tuesday, with the support of the Romanian Association of the Blind (RAB), a simulation of the voting process for the first round of the 2025 elections for the President of Romania, adapted for people with visual impairments.
According to an AEP press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, the simulation used a template for the ballot paper designed by AEP, which allows voters with visual impairments to vote independently.
"The simulation was aimed at testing the template for the ballot paper designed by AEP in order to ensure the possibility of direct exercise of the vote by the visually impaired, as well as to consult the visually impaired on the measures that can facilitate the exercise of electoral rights," AEP said.
Information materials in Braille, developed by the AEP, were also disseminated, containing general information on the voting process, as well as detailed voting steps in the context of using the template for the ballot paper.
AEP announces that it will provide, on its website, www.roaep.ro, a section dedicated to accessibility, which can be consulted by accessing the following link: https://www.roaep.ro/prezentare/accesibilitate/.
