The polling stations organized for the first round of the presidential election closed on Sunday, at 9:00 p.m., Romania's time, both in the country and abroad, but voters who are in line at this time can exercise their constitutional right, informs Agerpres.
By 8:30 p.m., over 9.3 million voters had voted.
Voting can be extended by a maximum of three hours - until 11:59 p.m. at the latest - for voters who are at the polling station at 9:00 p.m., as well as for those who are in line outside the polling station to enter the premises.
The AUR candidate in the presidential election, George Simion, ranked first in the first round of voting, with approximately 30% of the votes, followed by the candidate of the PSD-PNL-UDMR alliance, Crin Antonescu, and the independent candidate Nicusor Dan, both with over 20% of the votes, according to exit polls conducted by the Center for Urban and Regional Sociology - CURS and the AVANGARDE Socio-Behavioral Studies Group.
