Several irregularities and incidents in the electoral process in the diaspora were reported on Saturday, by 1:00 p.m., by observers and citizens on the Vot Corect platform, Expert Forum announced.
Romanians in the diaspora have already been voting since Friday in the 965 polling stations organized abroad, and the campaign ended on Saturday, at 7:00 AM.
''On Saturday, by 1:00 p.m., the Vot Corect Coalition centralized a series of irregularities and incidents reported by observers and citizens through the Vote Monitor application, call center 0800 460 002 and the online platform www.votcorect.ro'', a press release from Expert Forum states.
Most complaints received from voters are related to the posting of photos of ballots with the electoral option marked and to some organizational problems in polling stations.
According to the cited source, numerous posts on the TikTok network with ballots marked for one of the candidates were reported - over 100 notifications were sent through the votcorect.ro portal on May 16 and 17.
By 12:00 on Saturday, Vot Corect observers had transmitted voting data from over 70 polling stations abroad, mostly in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, via the Vote Monitor application. The observers monitored the opening of the stations in 61 polling stations, where the process took place in good conditions, with no significant deficiencies reported.
''With one exception, the conduct of the vote was assessed positively (good or very good) in the polling stations visited. However, it is worrying that in six of the polling stations observed the voting took place in a tense atmosphere or some acts of intimidation of voters or BEPS members were observed - Liege 1, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Agros, Heilbronn, Graz 2 and Bonn 2. (...) In some of the polling stations visited, the positioning and dimensions of the cardboard voting booths did not ensure the secrecy of the vote. The observers also reported tension or agitation near two polling stations (Groningen 1 - Netherlands and Graz 2 - Austria), one case in which the ballot box was not properly sealed and the presence of unauthorized persons in two of the polling stations observed. "The observers assessed that the premises were not adequate in four of the sections visited," Expert Forum states.
The cited source also shows that SIMPV operated under normal conditions in almost all cases.
"In three situations, observers were unable to observe without restrictions - Zurich, Groningen and Malmo. For the latter station, Vot Corect also notified the Electoral Bureau for polling stations abroad," the Expert Forum press release also states.
