Thousands of people protested on Wednesday evening in Bucharest and in other cities against the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code adopted by MPs and chanted slogans against the Government and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) - Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) ruling coalition, as well as against social-democrat leader, Liviu Dragnea.
Wednesday's protest in Victoriei Square in Bucharest against the PSD-ALDE alliance gathered at the peak of the rally over 6,000 people.
Nearly 4,000 people protested Wednesday in Sibiu for almost four hours on the main boulevards in the city, in front of the PSD headquarters, singing the anthem and applauding near President Klaus Iohannis' house.
More than 3,000 people marched on Wednesday in the streets of Cluj, on the second day of protests against the draft amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code, chanted slogans against the Government, PSD and Liviu Dragnea. People demanded the Government's resignation and snap elections.
About 2,500 people protested in Timisoara.
Over 1,500 people protested in the Union Square in Iasi and in the streets of the city center, displeased with the amendment to the criminal codes, chanting anti-government slogans and demanding that PSD leader Liviu Dragnea be sentenced. As with the previous protests, participants waved the national flag, the flag of the European Union and the US flag.
Approximately 1,000 people attended a protest rally in Brasov, in front of the Prefecture and continued in several streets of the city against the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code.
In other cities of the country, protesters gathered in central squares and chanted anti-government, anti-PSD and anti-Dragnea slogans: Alba Iulia - over 50, Arad - up to 80, Braila - 30, Bistrita-Nasaud - 80, Ploiesti - over 100, Satu Mare about 70, Tulcea - around 40.
