Sorin Grindeanu was elected, on Friday, as president of the PSD, at the party's extraordinary Congress, with 2,787 votes "for" and eight abstentions.
The Congress, convened at Romexpo, adopted the motion "United for Romanians. Strong, only together" with which Grindeanu ran, agerpres reports.
The new leadership team proposed by him was also validated.
The new PSD first vice-presidents are: Bogdan Ivan, Victor Negrescu, Marius Oprescu, Ionut Pucheanu and Corneliu Stefan.
The following vice-presidents were appointed by region: Dragos Benea - northeast, Francisk-Iulian Chiriac - southeast, Marius Dunca - center, Gabriela Firea - Bucharest-Ilfov, Adrian-Ionut Gidea - south, Laurentiu Nistor - west, Constantin Radulescu - southwest and Gabriel Zetea - northwest.
The PSD vice-presidents by field are: Daniel Baluta - public administration, Gheorghe Carciu - national identity and diaspora, Mihnea Costoiu - education, research, digitalization and AI, Vasile Dincu - European affairs, defense and population safety, Andrei Dolineaschi - economy and entrepreneurship, Doina Fedorovici - labor and social protection, Aladin Georgescu - investments and European funds, Dumitrita Gliga - environment and energy, Romeo-Daniel Lungu - agriculture, rural development and tourism, Silvia Mihalcea - legislative strategy and coordination of parliamentary groups, Gheorghe Soldan - regional development and infrastructure, Diana Tusa - public policies and justice.
Claudiu Manda will be the new secretary general of the party.
