PSD's Tutuianu and Neacsu get excluded from party

Social-Democrat Senator Adrian Tutuianu and Secretary General of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Marian Neacsu were excluded from the party on Monday, following a decision made in the PSD's National Executive Committee (CExN) sitting.

At the end of the sitting, Marian Neacsu announced that they will both challenge the decision.

"We'll certainly challenge the decision, because it's a public execution without any meaning. No argument has been brought to us, only nonsense, statements without any grounds, we suddenly became traitors of the party, people who secretly negotiated with someone else. It is very interesting how I managed to move from one extreme to another, in others' view," Marian Neacsu stated, arguing that this decision is based on some "scatty motivations."

According to him, neither him nor the signatories of the letter against Dragnea had any intention to vote against the Government.

"We have been and will remain - won't remain - faithful and serious soldiers of the party. We won't fight against the party. This is an issue [the exclusion from the party] which we will analyse with our colleagues, if they are to stand besides us and will decide accordingly," Marian Neacsu pointed out.

In his turn, Adrian Tutuianu stated that this is a difficult moment, that was to be expected, mentioning that the decision regarding his exclusion was made the day when 20 years passed since he joined the PSD - as Spokesperson in Dambovita county.

"Looks like after 20 years, some colleagues started to tell me that I wouldn't have properly served the interests of this party. (...) I think that it's a major mistake and I believe that today's decision does nothing more than to show that the opinion offense is sanctioned in the PSD. I expressed myself within the party in relation to what I needed to reproach about the leadership of the party and the Government. I saw today, only timidly, someone condemning the fact that a man is recorded inside the PSD and those discussions, that are eventually in a party structure, are brought to the public by people who are interested in breaking things in an organization. Secondly, I never aimed to hide certain things that are not working," the PSD Senator explained his standpoint.

Tutuianu argued that the PSD is heading in the wrong direction.

"And I also think that a vote don't necessarily mean that those who lost, as we are today, aren't right. It's up to time to show whether we were right or those who voted today for our exclusion. We will challenge it - there are statutory ways, ethics committee, congress and, according to the CCR [the Constitutional Court of Romania], in justice. (...) Talking about the problems of a party doesn't mean being against the party; never have I or Mr Neacsu, nor anybody in the group of contestants - endorsed any action against the PSD," Adrian Tutuianu added.
