The Social Democratic Party (PSD) chairman Marcel Ciolacu said on Friday that we must fight disinformation, but without suppressing in any way the freedom of expression using instruments of totalitarian regimes.

"PSD will never agree with the proposal made to Mr. Arafat by 'civil society'! #Cenzura, #MinisterulAdevarului, #Scanteia cannot become the weapons of democracy and the rule of law. We must fight disinformation, but without suppressing in any way freedom of expression using instruments of totalitarian regimes," Ciolacu wrote on Facebook.

He added that the PSD ministers "will not designate any censor for the propagation of the cult of personality of any comrade or any other 'genius of the Carpathians' (as Ceausescu used to be called, ed. n.)".

"Fake-news is combated by a correct, in time communication, not with 'experts' or 'consultants' on a witch-hunt," Ciolacu said, Agerpres informs.
