The retail market in Romania will increase this year by 10 percent, much over the 1.5 percent average of the EU member states, a research by GfK sent on Tuesday to agerpres., reads.

GfK has unfolded a survey - an analysis of the European retail, aggregating the most recent developments and forecasts for 2017. The market indices assessed by GfK for 32 European countries that were analysed are: the purchase power, the weight of the population's expenditure in the retail from the total spending, the inflation, the commercial spaces' profitability.

Even on an uptrend, the purchase power in Romania is among the lowest in Europe. The country regions where the purchase power records a small leap over the rest of the country are: Bucharest, alongside the counties of Cluj, Timis, Arad, Alba, Sibiu, Brasov, Prahova, and Arges.

In Romania, the commercial space per resident is still below the European average, parking at 0.7 sq.m., and the profitability is under EUR 2,500/sq.m., the GfK research adds.
