Almost 1,700 children learned to adopt sustainable behaviors for a cleaner Romania, during educational workshops organized by RetuRo - the administrator of the Guarantee-Return System in Romania, and Let's Do It, Romania! - the largest social movement in the country.
According to a press release from the ReturRo company, sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, the initiatives took place between May 20 and June 14, under the title "Recycling Time".
The project aimed to inspire the new generation to adopt sustainable behaviors for a cleaner Romania, by raising awareness from an early age of the impact that non-recycled packaging has on the environment and by substantiating the concept that a correct management of packaging represents both an immediate gain , as well as a continuous and much more valuable long-term gain.
The program is part of the extended strategy of RetuRO to inform consumers about the importance of the involvement of each of us in recycling efforts, in order to have a greener country. The interactive workshops took place in 25 schools in Bucharest, Ilfov, Argeş, Dâmboviţa and Prahova, reaching almost 1,700 children from grades I-IV.
The Guarantee-Return system implemented in Romania by RetuRo is the largest circular economy project in the environmental area of our country. Compared to the population served and the volume of packaging put on the market annually, SGR Romania is the second largest project of its kind in Europe, after the one in Germany.
From the start of the System, until the end of May, over half a billion packages with the "Guaranteed Packaging" logo were returned by consumers.
"Let's Do It, Romania!" is the largest social involvement project in Romania, which aims to clean up waste from natural areas in a single day. "Let's Do It, Romania!" is part of the global initiative "Let's Do It World!", present in over 190 countries, and one of the largest volunteer movements in the world.
