Young Romanians can start extraordinary careers in the aviation world and Romaero has already hired over 200 employees and wants to reach as many as 1,000, Remus Vulpescu, the general manager of the aerospace company, said on Friday.
"At ROMATSA, we have a process of renewal, growth and development," Vulpescu told the press conference dedicated to the Bucharest International Air Show & General Aviation Exhibition (BIAS).
The tenth edition of BIAS is dedicated to Romania's Centennial and brings together this year 150 civilian and military aircraft, in air shows and displayed to the public, as well as over 100 pilots and skydivers from 13 countries. BIAS 2018 is an air force show, in which the aces of civilian and military aviation from Romania, Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Great Britain, Germany, USA, Greece, Austria, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic and Lithuania will delight spectators with astonishing aerial acrobatics and elite demonstrations, but also with aircraft displayed on the ground.
According to Captain Commander Denis Diaconescu of the Air Force Staff, the Romanian Air Force participates in BIAS 2018 with a detachment of over 200 airmen and more than 20 aircraft.
In his turn, Commander Madalin Cristea recommended the public to visit the static exhibition, where a stand of the Romanian National Aviation Museum, dedicated to the Centennial of the Great Union, was set up, a stand of the "Henri Coanda" Air Force Academy in Brasov where there will be two flight simulators, as well as an Air Force stand with educational offer.
The General Director of the Romanian Aeroclub, George Rotaru, said that the aircraft will fly on Saturday morning from 9:00 am.
The special guests this year are the "supersonic" Turkish Stars, representing the Turkish Air Force, the only team in the world that performs with eight supersonic fighter-jets.
As a first for Romania, participating in BIAS 2018 will be the "magician" White Red Sparks, the Polish Air Force's acrobatic team, flying six PZL TS-11 Iskra aircraft.
The audience will also watch supersonic warplanes F-16 Fighting Falcon, Saab Jas 39 Gripen, F-15 Eagle and Eurofighter Typhoon. Among the airplanes displayed for the public at Baneasa Airport will be NATO's Boeing E-3A Sentry AWACS.
The pilots of the national TAROM airline company will also show their skills at BIAS 2018.
Among the participants there are also well-known names from the Romanian aviation elite and from the Higher Civil Aviation School. Flying at BIAS 2018 will also be the well-known Lithuanian pilot Jurgis Kairys, multiple world air acrobatics champion.
BIAS 2018 will take place on Saturday, July 28, at Bucharest Baneasa -Aurel Vlaicu International Airport and Romaero, organized by Bucharest Airports National Company, Romanian Aeroclub, Romanian Air Force, ROMATSA, Romeero, and AIBO Sports Club.
