The Romania, Bulgaria, Austria trilateral meeting at heads of state level President Klaus Iohannis was scheduled to attend on Tuesday in Vienna has been canceled at Austria's request due to objective reasons on the Austrian side, the Presidential Administration informed on Monday.
On 24 October, the Presidential Administration announced that President Klaus Iohannis will attend this meeting, which was scheduled to take place in view of ensuring the continuity between the three presidencies of the Council of the European Union, but also in view of sending a common message regarding the future of the EU.
The Romanian head of state was scheduled to meet Federal President of the Republic of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen and his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev.
Romania will take over the Presidency of the Council of the EU on 1 January until 30 June 2019. This mandate is ensured by rotation among the EU member states every six months.
