The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), in close collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as with other institutions of the Romanian state and in coordination with the dedicated structures of the European Commission, participated on Wednesday in the evacuation from the Gaza Strip of eight children and 25 of their family members, informs Agerpres.
According to the MAE, among them are five pediatric patients, accompanied by 13 family members, who will be transported to the Kingdom of Belgium, where they will receive support and specialized assistance.
They are joined by two pediatric patients and six family members, who will be transported to the Kingdom of Spain, for treatment in specialized medical units.
Also, a Palestinian minor was medically evacuated from the Gaza Strip, seriously affected by the lack of access to adequate medical treatment, along with six family members, who will benefit from the support of the competent Romanian institutions and some non-governmental organizations to ensure assistance medical and psychological necessary for recovery.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Romania will continue to contribute to the effort to mitigate the effects of the humanitarian crisis on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, acting in close coordination with its international partners.
The operation was financially and operationally supported by the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Commission, in close coordination with the World Health Organization and the relevant Israeli authorities.
