Romania exports nearly EUR 1.1 billion worth of cereals, cereal-based products in first four months

Romania exported cereals and cereal-based products worth EUR 1.084 billion in the first four months of 2025, marking a 12.1% decline compared to the same period last year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

During the same period, imports of cereals and cereal-based products reached EUR 542.3 million, up 2.12% from January - April 2024, resulting in a trade surplus of EUR 541.8 million for this segment.

Between January and April 2025, Romania exported wheat and meslin (a wheat-rye mixture) worth EUR 488.4 million, and corn exports totaled EUR 331.8 million.

Cereal exports to European Union (EU) countries amounted to EUR 333.9 million, with the highest volumes going to Italy (EUR 104.4 million), Spain (EUR 43.4 million), Poland (EUR 28.4 million), and Bulgaria (EUR 27.7 million).

Imports from EU countries totaled EUR 173.5 million, mainly from Bulgaria (EUR 87.8 million), Hungary (EUR 31.8 million), and France (EUR 28.5 million).
