Romania, Moldova to meet on energy issues

Moldova's Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov has informed his Romanian counterpart Sebastian Burduja about Moldova's having met the unbundling requirements, which entailed the legislation of Moldova being amended to ensure the energy security of the country and alignment with the European legislation, told Agerpres.

According to a press statement released by the Romanian Ministry of Energy on Wednesday, the Moldovan official mentioned the fact that the Russian Federation intends to attack or hinder the involvement of the government in the management of activities, pointing to the violation of investor rights.

The Romanian Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, informed his counterpart that he was briefed on the current situation in Moldova, including the process of unbundling. At the same time, he showed openness to supporting Moldova in the area of energy.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to set up a meeting at a technical level for September 18, 2023 of energy officials from Romania and Moldova, where officials of Transelectrica, Nuclearelectrica, Hidroelectrica and ANR as well as other players are expected to participate in order to develop price simulations or analyses, implicitly possible offers, as well as the continuation of collaboration.
