Romania's population recorded a negative growth of 8,376 persons in April 2017, given that 12,453 births were recorded against 20,829 deaths, data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) reveal.
In April, 2,598 children fewer children were born compared with March, while deaths declined by 1,642.
Deaths among infants aged less than one year were 108 in April 2017, the same as in March 2017.
On the other hand, in April 2017, 9,737 marriages were recorded at the registrar's offices, 4,309 more than in March. The number of divorces formally pronounced under final court rulings and in accordance with Law 202/2010 stood at 2,606, 85 fewer than in March 2017.
Y-o-y, the number of live births was down by 2,600, and the number of deaths declined by 80 from April 2016. The natural population growth was negative both in April 2017 (- 8,376 persons) and April 2016 (- 5,856 persons).
Deaths among infants aged less than one year decreased by 3 in April 2017 from April 2016.
The number of marriages was higher by 4,553 in April 2017 than in April 2016. Against April 2016, 9 divorces less were formally pronounced under final court rulings and in accordance with Law 202/2010.
